Integrated Oxygen System Now Available for Select Mooney Models
For Immediate Release
Twenty years ago, supplemental oxygen in general aviation was viewed more as an accessory than as a necessity. Nowadays, the dangers of hypoxia are well-published and openly discussed. When flying above 8,000 feet in today's high-performance non-pressurized aircraft, a pilot will make sure to either bring a portable oxygen system onboard or have a fixed oxygen system installed. One of a select few companies worldwide that offers supplemental oxygen systems for general aviation, Precise Flight, Inc. of Bend, Oregon has just announced the availability of their fixed (i.e. engineered to integrate directly onto the plane) oxygen systems on four models of Mooney planes: the M20M, the M20S, the M20R, and the M20TN. Installed in the tail of a plane, Precise Flight's 77.1 ft
Precise Flight's integrated oxygen system is the only general aviation system available on the market that is electronically controlled. The system also provides feedback to the cockpit as to the amount of oxygen remaining. It won't turn on if there are any safety issues such as shorted wires and, most importantly, automatically flashes a warning at 12,500 feet to notify the pilot that oxygen should be used on the aircraft. In addition to a weight reduction over Mooney's original integrated oxygen system, Precise Flight's fixed oxygen system lasts more than three times longer than most portable alternatives, saving pilots valuable time during pit stops. Moreover, Mooney owners will be given the option of adding on the only FAA-approved demand oxygen conserver, known as the PFOC (Precise Flow Oxygen Conserver). The PFOC allows a bottle of oxygen to last up to three times longer through the finely regulated flow of oxygen during inhalation. All in all, Precise Flight's fixed oxygen system for Mooney aircraft provides a substantial improvement over any others available in the market.
