Precise Flight to Introduce New, Pulsing HID Light
For Immediate Release
It is common knowledge that a flashing light is 10 times more visible to the human eye than a stationary light. In the world of aviation, where visibility of other airborne objects is of vital importance, the concept of flashing one's landing lights has evolved from the pilot manually flicking a switch in the cockpit on and off, to electronically controlled pulse lights and, most recently, to the novel idea of pulsing HID aircraft lights introduced by a Bend, Oregon-based company called Precise Flight.
Precise Flight has created a light capable of quietly manipulating the intensity, duration, and spectrum of an HID light to maximize a plane's visibility. Conventional strobe lights are traditionally mounted on a plane's wingtips and increase the aircraft's visibility through "strobing", or quickly flashing lights. However, this kind of light diffuses quickly and is especially hard to see in certain weather conditions such as broad daylight. Precise Flight's pulsing HID light improves upon this situation by providing light flashes with an increased intensity and duration. In addition, the lights are mounted in the front of the plane, where visibility is most important in order to avoid collisions.
Precise Flights pulsing HID light's pre-production units are currently available as the company searches for OEM partners interested in incorporating the product into new or existing aircraft platforms and fleet operations. Since one of the company's strengths is providing the sophistication needed to bring aftermarket products to OEMs, there is little doubt as to their imminent triumph in this endeavor.
Founded in 1980 by two aviation consultants interested in modifying the speed brakes normally found on gliders and making them appropriate for small aircraft, Precise Flight has since branched into other areas within the aviation industry such as oxygen systems and HID lighting. As shown by the company's rapid growth and high customer satisfaction ratings, Precise Flight stands to make a big name for itself in the aviation industry; presumably using pulsing HID lights as one of their significant stepping stones to success.
