PULSELITE® TECHNOLOGY & SYSTEMS FOR COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT
BE SEEN. BE SAFE. THE PULSELITE® SYSTEM REDUCES BIRD STRIKES.
PRECISE FLIGHT IS DEDICATED TO ENHANCING THE MARGIN OF SAFETY AND SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASING PROFITABILITY OF COMMERCIAL AVIATION CUSTOMERS
After 10 years of testing aboard the fleets of Alaska Airlines, Horizon Airlines, Qantas Airways and several other regional airlines around the world, there is empirical data that quantifies the Pulselite® System’s effectiveness at substantially reducing bird strikes and significantly increasing the visibility of your aircraft.
Airlines that have modified their fleets with the Pulselite® System have reduced bird strikes by 30% to 66%, resulting in significantly increased profitability, enhanced safety, improved customer service and higher customer satisfaction ratings.
There are more than 60,000 bird strikes annually that cost the airline industry over $3 billion globally and over $1 billion in the United States. Nearly 90% of bird strike costs are caused by service disruption from delays and cancellations, while damage repairs only account for about 10%. With an average reduction in bird strikes of 40%, the Pulselite® system will save your airline approximately $60,000 annually per aircraft, which will significantly increase profitability, while enhancing safety, improving customer service and increasing customer satisfaction ratings.

HOW THE PULSELITE® SYSTEM WORKS
The Pulselite® System is an FAA-certified, lightweight, electrical system modification that alternately pulses the existing lights of your aircraft at a specific frequency and pattern that significantly increases the conspicuity of your aircraft, and reflects its speed and directional movement.
A growing body of research confirms that non-pulsing, steady-state lights create the false and hazardous impression of a stationary object. Precise Flight’s Pulselite® System is the only FAA-certified on-board solution that pulses the existing lights of your aircraft, thereby removing the hazard of steady-state lights. The result for your aircraft is significantly increased visibility, and a significant reduction in costly and hazardous bird strikes.

ENHANCED SAFETY
Beyond its significant financial and operational benefits for airlines, the Pulselite® System also provides enhanced safety. In the air every day and night, in all weather conditions, visibility is important to flight crew and passenger safety. Airlines that pulse their lights exhibit a lower occurrence of near-miss events. The Pulselite® System uses patented technology to integrate into the aircraft’s TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System). When TCAS issues a warning to the pilot, the Pulselite® System engages and pulses the aircraft’s lights, in the event that the lights were not already pulsing in that phase of flight. The result is increased recognition and visibility to other aircraft in the area.
INCREASE LAMP LIFE UP TO THREE TIMES
Another benefit of the Pulselite® System is that it increases lamp life by up to three times by allowing the filament and bulb to run at a lower temperature. The bulb retains full rated candle power; less heat, less stress, and more visibility. It’s a win-win! If you’re turning on your landing lights for visibility, you might as well get the best visual benefit and save on the cost of bulb replacements and maintenance.
REDUCE THE LIKELIHOOD OF BIRD STRIKES
Is there a means by which birds might better discern aircraft position and speed, so as to reduce bird strikes? We know that vision is a primary and highly developed sensory pathway in birds. Recent work has shown that light can be an effective tool as a bird repellent and, potentially, as an alert, especially when bird strikes cost the international airline industry over $3 billion annually.
WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT THE PULSELITE® SYSTEM

“I preach to everyone who will listen about the effectiveness of the Pulselite System. Since installing the Pulselite System on our fleet, the number of bird strikes we were experiencing has been virtually eliminated. It’s been over seven years and 250,000 flight hours since our last bird strike.
Prior to installing the Pulselite System, we were experiencing a near fatal bird strike every two years.
In addition to its effectiveness in reducing bird strikes, the Pulselite System significantly increases the conspicuity of our helicopters, and that makes flying much safer for everyone. It’s a very easy installation, and I believe the Pulselite System is a must-have for safety.”

“Airbus Helicopters is committed to being the industry leader in safety and innovation. Bird strikes are a growing problem for helicopter operators. We are optimistic that the Pulselite System will help reduce the number of occurrences and we are proud to offer it as an option to our customers.”

“We purchased the Pulselite System for the extra safety margin it afforded us by making us more visible, especially during daylight, to other aircraft operating in proximity to us.
In many police aircraft operations, multiple media aircraft converge on our scenes. Using the Pulselite System gives us additional peace of mind that we will be seen and avoided.”

“The Pulselite System is installed on our entire fleet because it significantly enhances the safety of our pilots, employees, and customers.
The increased visibility created by the Pulselite System decreases the threat of midair and ground collisions and significantly reduces the frequency of bird strikes. The Pulselite System is ultra-reliable, easy to install and it performs well in any condition.
I believe it should be a standard safety measure on all rotorcraft.”

“Pulsing exterior lights have been proven to reduce bird strikes, and it absolutely helps in collision avoidance by maximizing aircraft visibility.
I support all technologies that increase flight safety, and pulsing exterior lights is an important one.”

“Before using the Pulselite System, I used to characterize bird strikes as unpreventable. I no longer look at bird strikes that way. Using the Pulselite System, Metro Aviation, based on data and studies, expects 6 times fewer bird strikes in migratory paths, and 3 times fewer bird strikes overall. The Pulselite System is an excellent product and we are systematically retrofitting the fleet. I would recommend each operator evaluate their data and operational profile to validate what we have determined to be a valuable modification.”

“For more than twenty years, the Tour Operators Program of Safety – or TOPS – has been dedicated to enhancing helicopter tour safety by requiring our members to meet requirements above those set by the FAA. The result has been a cumulative safety record much higher than that of general aviation. One such TOPS requirement is alternating avoidance lighting to increase aircraft visibility and decrease the chance of midair and ground collisions. Many of our members choose to use the Pulselite System to meet this requirement.”
